Harris Fire
Last night I camped out at Qualcomm, the Chargers Football Stadium. I live in eastern Spring Valley which is at the bottom-western end of Mt. Miguel just north of the Reservoir. My house is right on top of Dictionary Hill. The Harris Fire was coming dangerously close when I left, but about an hour ago I got an update saying that the firefighters seem to have a good grip on the situation and the winds are dying down. I should be able to return to my home tonight, but I might just stay at Qualcomm again because of the air quality. I would also like to do some more volunteering. I couldn't imagine what it would feel like to loose a home. Our governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is doing a great job tendering to the needs of the victims. I actually got to see his press conference live at Qualcomm Stadium. He is not at tall as I expected, but it is a good feeling being able to make eye contact and receiving a nod of acknowledgment as a sign that he actually cared. I'll be posting pictures soon and any more updates as I receive them.
